Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Walk-ins, booking, pricing, kids' cuts, hot shaves. The answers we give at the front desk, on the page.

Quick answers below. If something isn't here, call (440) 581-1258 and ask. We're at the shop most of the time.

Walk-Ins & Hours

When is the shop busiest?
Saturday mornings (8–11 AM), weekday lunch hour (12–1 PM), and right after schools let out (3:30–5 PM weekdays). Quietest stretches: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings right after open, and the last hour before close most weekdays.
Do you take walk-ins, or do I need an appointment?
Both work. Walk in any time during business hours and we'll seat you with the first available barber. If you'd rather lock in a specific chair, book online through Square Appointments. No app download required either way.

Booking

Can I book with a specific barber?
Yes. Most of the team has their own Square calendar. Find their page under Barbers and click 'Book with [Name]' to go straight to their availability. A few barbers don't keep a personal calendar; for those, book the shop's general calendar or walk in and ask for them.
Do I need to download an app to book?
No. Walk in, sit down, get cut, pay, leave. Same way it's worked since 1969. If you prefer to reserve a chair, our online booking through Square works in any browser. No app, no account required.

Pricing

How much is a haircut at Ledgewood?
Walk-in pricing: $26 men's haircut, $24 beard trim, $38 haircut + beard, $37 hot straight-razor shave, +$6 to add a straight-razor neck finish to any cut. Reserved online appointments are a few dollars more ($34 cut, $29 beard, $47 combo, $40 shave) since you're holding the chair.
Why is walk-in cheaper than an online appointment?
When you book online, you're holding the chair. That chair stays empty until you arrive. Walk-ins fill those gaps and keep all nine barbers cutting. The price reflects that. Same haircut, same barbers either way.

Services

How long does a haircut take?
About 25–35 minutes for a haircut, 40–50 for a cut + beard, and 35–45 for a full hot straight-razor shave. Add 15 minutes if it's a Saturday morning and the place is humming. That's when we're at our busiest.

Straight-Razor Shaves

Do you offer hot straight-razor shaves?
Yes. The traditional way: hot lather, hot towel, real straight razor. $37 for a full shave, or +$6 to add a straight-razor neck finish to any haircut. Will Dillon is our straight-razor specialist, but every master barber on the team can do it.

Beards

Can I get just a beard trim, no haircut?
Yes. Beard trim only is $24 walk-in, $29 with an online appointment. Comb, scissor, and clipper work. Clean line, no theatrics. Add a straight-razor neck or cheek line for $6.

Fades & Cuts

What's the difference between a fade and a taper?
A taper is a gentle, gradual blend from longer hair at the top to shorter at the bottom, usually staying within #2 to #1 guard range at the lowest. A fade goes shorter, down to a #0.5, #0 (skin), or true bald skin at the bottom. Fades are more dramatic; tapers are more conservative. Most of our team specializes in both.

Kids

Do you cut kids' hair?
Yes. Kids' cuts are part of what we do. A lot of our adult customers got their first cut here as kids. Some are bringing their own kids in now. Bring them in, walk-in or book.

Location & Parking

Where do I park?
Lot out front of the building, plus street parking along Royalton Rd. Wheelchair-accessible spaces by the main entrance. You won't have to hunt for a spot. It's a Strongsville commercial corridor, not downtown Cleveland.
Where is Ledgewood Barber Shop located?
17100 Royalton Rd, Strongsville, OH 44136. Nestled next to Triv's and two doors down from The Great Escape. Plenty of parking out front. Wheelchair-accessible entrance off the main lot.

History

How long has Ledgewood been around?
Since 1969. Carl Seidel and Dan Skop opened the shop at 17100 Royalton Rd before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Jim Tortorici carried it forward through the next chapter, and Matt McKenzie and Hank Jontony own and operate it today. Fifty-six years, same building, same chairs.

Other

Do you take cards, or just cash?
Both. We run Square at every chair. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay all work. Cash is welcome too, especially for tips.
